Will Ferrell Tees Up New Netflix Comedy as Golfing Legend
Will Ferrell is stepping onto the fairway for his next big role. The comedy star is set to headline a brand-new Netflix comedy series, taking on the part of a fictional golfing icon.
The 10-episode series brings Ferrell back together with Molly Shannon, his long-time collaborator from their Saturday Night Live days. Shannon, known more recently for her roles in Only Murders in the Building and The Other Two, will play a character named Stacy.
Joining them is Jimmy Tatro (The Real Bros of Simi Valley, American Vandal), cast as Lance, the son of Ferrell’s character — and a pro golfer with serious talent of his own. Fortune Feimster (Crushing It, FUBAR, The Mindy Project) rounds out the main cast as Sam, a newly recruited caddie who just might become the family’s secret weapon.
Behind the camera, the show boasts an impressive line-up of executive producers. Ferrell is joined by Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor through Gloria Sanchez Productions. The creative team also includes Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue of T-Street, alongside Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green, and Andrew Guest.
Though further details on the storyline remain under wraps, the project promises a mix of sports parody and character-driven comedy — with Ferrell back in the kind of eccentric, larger-than-life role that has defined much of his career.
The timing of Netflix’s new golf comedy is notable, arriving just after Apple TV+ launched its own golf-themed series, Stick. It seems golf is suddenly back in fashion — at least on the small screen.
More news on Ferrell’s latest project is expected soon.
