West End star replaces Dani Dyer on Strictly
Amber Davies is set to appear in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, replacing Dani Dyer who has pulled out due to injury. The acclaimed entertainment show, produced by BBC Studios, airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer every Saturday.
A Welsh actor, podcaster, TV personality, and West End star, Amber will make her debut on tomorrow night’s Strictly Come Dancing – the first live show of the series – partnered with Nikita Kuzmin.
Amber first gained public attention after winning Love Island in 2017. Since then, she has built a successful acting career, taking lead roles in stage productions such as Pretty Woman, 9 to 5: The Musical, and The Great Gatsby. On television, she presented the documentary Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5, where she traveled to Nashville to meet and interview Dolly Parton. Amber also hosts the podcast Call To Stage, featuring interviews with theatre stars. Her screen credits include the CBBC drama series Almost Never, and she previously competed in the sixteenth series of Dancing on Ice.
On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Amber Davies says: “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life. I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true. I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud.”
Amber has just begun rehearsals with Nikita Kuzmin, and they will perform a Waltz on tomorrow night’s first live show of the series.
This year, Amber will compete alongside Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Alex Kingston, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Balvinder Sopal, George Clarke, La Voix, Chris Robshaw, Ellie Goldstein, Thomas Skinner, Vicky Pattison, Stefan Dennis, Ross King, Karen Carney, and Lewis Cope. Her inclusion comes after Dani Dyer withdrew from the competition due to injury.
Strictly Come Dancing is a BBC Studios Entertainment production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. Executive Producer: Sarah James. Series Editors: Nicola Fitzgerald and Jack Gledhill. BBC Commissioning Editor: Jo Wallace.
