Take That: The Circus Live 2009
Take That Present: The Circus Live was the seventh concert tour by the English pop group Take That, staged in 2009 to promote their fifth studio album, The Circus. Conceived as a large-scale stadium tour, it marked a significant milestone in the band’s career, showcasing their return to the very top of the British pop scene.
The tour opened on 5 June 2009 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and ran for just over a month, closing on 5 July 2009 with a series of sold-out performances at London’s Wembley Stadium. Across its run, The Circus Live became the group’s biggest and most ambitious tour to date, both in terms of scale and audience numbers.
In total, the shows were attended by 1,014,000 fans, making it one of the most successful tours ever mounted in the UK at the time. Financially, it proved to be a huge triumph, generating profits estimated at £40.56 million. Demand for tickets was unprecedented—when the first 600,000 tickets for the original eight dates went on sale, they sold out in just five hours, earning the record for the fastest-selling tour in UK history.
The Circus tour returns in 2026
Ahead of releasing their 10th studio album, released in November next year, Take That will recreate The Circus tour next summer.
Tickets will go on sale on from 09:30 BST on 26 September.
