Vicky Pattison is confirmed for Strictly
BBC announce Vicky Pattison will compete in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing
Vicky Pattison has been confirmed as the eleventh celebrity taking part in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The award-winning BBC Studios entertainment show will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this September.
Best known as a TV presenter, author, and podcast and radio host, Vicky rose to fame after winning I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2015. She has since become a regular presence on British television, appearing on MTV, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and TLC.
Her acclaimed Channel 4 documentary Vicky Pattison: Alcohol, Dad and Me established her as a candid and powerful voice on issues around alcohol addiction and mental health. Vicky has also been a Celebrity MasterChef finalist, taken on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, and appeared in Sport Relief: All Star Games. Last year, she joined the BBC’s Arctic Challenge for Comic Relief, raising funds for charity.
Away from the screen, Vicky has written several Sunday Times bestsellers — including Nothing But the Truth, which hit number one and remained in the top ten for seven weeks. She has built a loyal social media following of more than five million and is a passionate advocate for women’s health and wellbeing, recently fronting an investigation into reproductive health with Good Morning Britain. She currently presents Heart Radio’s Saturday afternoon show and hosts two hit podcasts: Get A Grip with Angela Scanlon, and BBC Sounds’ Love Bombed.
Speaking about joining the show, Vicky said:
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing lineup... but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified. I’m not a natural dancer! But this is an incredible chance to push myself out of my comfort zone, and I just hope I don’t make too much of a fool of myself!”
The announcement was made on This Morning on Thursday 14 August. More celebrity contestants will be revealed soon.
Strictly Come Dancing is a BBC Studios Entertainment production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. Executive Producer: Sarah James. Series Editors: Nicola Fitzgerald and Jack Gledhill. Commissioning Editor: Jo Wallace.
The new series launches this autumn — you can add it to your BBC iPlayer Watchlist now.
