The Inheritance: Channel 4 confirm launch details
Entertainment News: Channel 4's huge new reality competition series The Inheritance will launch straight after Bake Off, on Tuesday 2 September.
Channel 4 has announced the launch of a brand-new reality competition series, The Inheritance, which will debut at 9.30pm on Tuesday 2 September, airing directly after the first episode of the 2025 series of The Great British Bake Off.
In the series, thirteen strangers are summoned to a grand stately home to compete for a share of the fortune left behind by “The Deceased,” a fabulously glamorous benefactor portrayed by Elizabeth Hurley. But securing the money won’t be simple — the late heiress had a wicked sense of humour and devised a mischievous game to ensure only the sharpest players can lay claim to her inheritance.
Overseeing proceedings is The Deceased’s Executor, her trusted legal counsel played by Robert Rinder. The contestants must band together to complete a string of fiendishly difficult tasks, demanding teamwork, strategy and cunning. However, there’s a catch: only one player can walk away with the winnings from each challenge, forcing competitors to argue, persuade and scheme their way to the prize.
Described as a game of “wit, willpower, persuasion and betrayal,” The Inheritance promises to be “camp, cut-throat and completely gripping.”
Elizabeth Hurley said: “It’s a thrill to be part of this clever game, playing The Deceased; it all takes place on her huge estate in the English countryside and she dresses to the nines in every scene. Tune in this Autumn to catch The Inheritance on Channel 4.”
Rob Rinder added: “This is a high-stakes strategy game served with a side of scheming and sabotage. As The Executor I enforce the rules, keep the chaos in check - more or less - and make sure our players are deserving of every glittering penny left by our dearly departed deceased, played by the iconic Elizabeth Hurley.”
Catch the first episode at 9.30pm on Tuesday 2 September, straight after Bake Off on Channel 4.
