The Great British Bake Off: What’s the Theme for Next Week’s Episode (Week 3)?
It’s week 3 on The Great British Bake Off next week, when the theme will be bread week!
The nation’s favourite baking competition is back in full swing, and viewers can expect plenty of drama, dough, and Hollywood handshakes when The Great British Bake Off returns on Tuesday 16 September.
This week marks Bread Week, one of the most anticipated episodes of the series, when judge and master baker Paul Hollywood really comes into his element. Alongside fellow judge Dame Prue Leith, he’ll be casting a sharp eye over every knead, rise, and crust as the bakers attempt to prove themselves under pressure.
The challenges are set to be a true test of skill and stamina. First, the Signature challenge will see contestants tackle a pull-apart monkey bread, a tricky bake that requires precision and patience. Then comes the Technical, a sticky fast-food-inspired challenge designed to trip up even the most confident bakers. Finally, in the Showstopper, they’ll be tasked with creating an elaborate sweet bread centrepiece that could bring both “tiers” of joy and tears of frustration.
Of course, the fun wouldn’t be complete without hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, who bring warmth, wit, and plenty of light relief to the iconic tent. Their playful energy balances the intensity of the competition, making Bake Off as entertaining as it is delicious.
Since moving to Channel 4 in 2017, The Great British Bake Off has continued to pull in millions of viewers every week, cementing itself as one of Britain’s most beloved shows. The mix of creativity, competition, and comfort TV has kept audiences hooked, while the introduction of new hosts and bakers each year keeps the format fresh. Channel 4’s investment has also seen spin-offs like Junior Bake Off and Celebrity Bake Off thrive, broadening the show’s appeal.
Whether it’s the thrill of seeing an ambitious bake collapse in the heat of the tent, or the heartwarming moments of camaraderie among contestants, Bake Off remains a highlight of the autumn TV calendar. And with Bread Week on the horizon, one thing’s certain: no loaf is safe when Paul Hollywood is in charge.
