The Gathering
Where to Watch: Netflix
The Gathering, Channel 4’s gripping teen drama, has landed on Netflix and is already making waves with global audiences, quickly rising to viral status.
Created by award-winning novelist Helen Walsh (The Lemon Grove, Once Upon a Time in England) in her first original television screenplay, the series introduces breakout star Eva Morgan as Kelly, a working-class student and rising gymnastics talent. Kelly’s life takes a dark turn when she is brutally attacked during an underground rave held on a tidal islet. Alongside her is teammate Jessica, played by Sadie Soverall (Saltburn)—a privileged friend who seems to live a picture-perfect life.
The cast features a powerful ensemble: Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point) as Jessica’s manipulative mother Natalie, Warren Brown (The Responder) as Kelly’s well-meaning but volatile father Paul, and Richard Coyle (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) as high-flying solicitor Jules. They are joined by Sonny Walker (The Responder) as Adam, Ryan Quarmby (The Last Kingdom) as Charlie, and newcomer Luca Kamleh-Chapman as Bazi.
Set and filmed in Liverpool and across Merseyside, The Gathering is structured as both a whodunnit and a why-dunnit. Every character harbors secrets, tensions, and motives that could explain the attack on Kelly. Each episode shifts perspective to spotlight a different teenager or parent, pulling viewers deeper into their intertwined lives and leaving them to piece together the truth.
Beyond its central mystery, the series pushes boundaries with its exploration of teenage freedom, sexual politics, and fractured family dynamics. With its unflinching look at identity, control, and rebellion, The Gathering asks urgent questions about what it means to grow up under the constant gaze of parents—and whether true independence is ever possible.
The Gathering is now streaming on Netflix.
