Taron Egerton stars in new real-life Apple TV Plus drama, 'Smoke', releasing 27 June.
The nine-episode series debuts globally on Friday, June 27, 2025, with the first two episodes. New episodes will drop weekly every Friday through August 8, 2025.
Inspired by true events, Smoke follows the gripping story of a troubled police detective and a mysterious arson investigator as they chase two elusive serial arsonists.
Egerton stars as arson investigator Dave Gudsen, with Emmy Award nominee Jurnee Smollett playing police detective Michelle Calderone. The ensemble cast also includes Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Emmy nominee Anna Chlumsky, Adina Porter, Academy Award and Emmy nominee Greg Kinnear, and Emmy winner John Leguizamo.
Produced by Apple Studios, the series is written and executive produced by Lehane. Egerton is joined by executive producers Richard Plepler (EDEN Productions), Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin (Imperative Entertainment), Kari Skogland, Joe Chappelle, and Jane Bartelme. Smoke is inspired by the hit podcast Firebug, created by truth.media and hosted by Oscar and Emmy winner Kary Antholis, who also executive produces via Crime Story Media. Marc Smerling executive produces for Truth Podcasting Corp. Directing duties are shared by Skogland, Chappelle, and Jim McKay.
