Review: Stranded on Honeymoon Island is your next must watch ✯✯✯✯
Davina McCall's new series continues tonight on BBC One and iPlayer.
Stranded On Honeymoon Island is a brand new entertainment format for BBC One from the makers of Married at First Sight.
There are more than a few similariries but one very important difference between the two shows – on this one, the contestants are likeable. Really likeable.
Putting some much needed spunk into our evenings as the nights draw in (so to speak), this entertaining new series is just what we need right now, and it’s the casting that has made it perfect. You’ll love the people taking part as much as they love each other (and themselves), and it’s this all important ingredient that is going to keep us wanting coming back from more.
Also, Davina. They couldn’t have opted for a more on-point presenter for this. From Streetmate to Big Brother via Your Mum My Dad or whatever it was called, Davina adds to the joy, the sparkle and the warmth and she does it beautifully.
So, back to that format and here’s the bit that will feel familiar. The applicants are all successful, charismatic and hot. Quite how they’re single, well nobody knows, but they’re here to find love. And they’re doing it by filling out an application form, and then travelling to the Philippines to sort of get married (but not really). Once they’re hooked up, the couples are then left on a remote island, Castaway style. So that means, no luxuries, no beds, and they’ve got to learn to do toilet in front of one another. If they can conquer that, then maybe they’ll fall head over heals in love. How about that for a honeymoon?!
With the same kind of heart that has done so will for Destination X and Race Across the World, this is a brilliant new series from the BBC and one that weill provide you with plenty to talk about over the watercooler.
You’ll have your favourites, you will most probably have your least favourites as well, but that’s all part of the magic reality show recipe.
We cant wait to see how it plays out. Catch up on iPlayer.
Keep in the loop. Subscribe for free.
