ITV has released a first-look image from the highly anticipated second series of Red Eye, featuring returning star Jing Lusi and new lead Martin Compston.
Following the smash-hit success of its debut, which drew over 8 million viewers and racked up 29.3 million streams on ITVX, Red Eye quickly secured its place among ITV’s top ten dramas of 2024.
Produced by Bad Wolf and written once again by series creator Peter A. Dowling, the high-stakes thriller returns with six brand-new episodes, commissioned by ITV’s Director of Drama, Polly Hill.
In the upcoming series, Jing Lusi reprises her role as DS Hana Li, now joined by Martin Compston in a key role. The pair must put aside their complicated history to uncover a new, dangerous conspiracy.
Also returning to the series are Lesley Sharp as MI5 chief Madeline Delaney and Jemma Moore as investigative journalist Jess Li, along with Jonathan Aris (His Dark Materials), Robert Guilbert (Killing Eve), Cash Holland (Duck Turpin), and Steph Lacey (Doctor Who).
With filming well underway, Jing Lusi commented: “I'm incredibly excited to return to the world of Red Eye, and thrilled to be sharing this rollercoaster with the brilliant Martin Compston.”
Martin Compston added: “I’m delighted to be joining the Red Eye team. Hoping to build on the massive success of the first series and give viewers another thrilling ride.
The new season will also welcome several fresh faces to the cast, including Isaura Barbe-Brown (Guilt, The Gold), Nicholas Rowe (The Crown, A Spy Among Friends), Danusia Samal (The Great, Ghost in the Shell), Trevor White (Industry, I Hate Susie), and Guy Williams (The White Princess, London Has Fallen).
With high drama, global stakes, and a stellar ensemble cast, Red Eye Series 2 promises to deliver another adrenaline-fueled ride.
