'The Iris Affair': Sky release first look at new thriller
Sky has released first-look images of Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander in The Iris Affair
Sky has released first-look images of Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander in The Iris Affair (formerly Iris), a sun-soaked chase thriller from Neil Cross—the creator of the Golden Globe Award-winning series Luther. The eight-part series stars Algar (Mary & George, The Virtues) as Iris Nixon and Emmy-nominated Hollander (The White Lotus, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans) as Cameron Beck. It is helmed by directors Terry McDonough (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) and Sarah O’Gorman (A Gentleman in Moscow, The Witcher).
The Iris Affair is a gripping and cinematic thriller that sets two exceptional minds against one another in a perilous game of cat and mouse across Italy.
The story begins when Iris Nixon, an elusive genius played by Algar, deciphers a sequence of intricate online puzzles that lead her to a piazza in Florence. There, she encounters Cameron Beck, a magnetic entrepreneur portrayed by Hollander, who offers her a job to help unlock a powerful, top-secret technology. Intrigued, Iris agrees—but upon uncovering the technology’s dangerous capabilities, she flees with the journal containing its activation sequence.
What follows is a high-octane pursuit—from an isolated cabin in Sardinia to the vibrant streets of Rome—as Beck hunts for Iris in a high-risk chase where betrayal is always a threat, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
The supporting cast includes Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones, Force Majeure), Harry Lloyd (Arcane, Marcella), Meréana Tomlinson (The Trials), Sacha Dhawan (The Great, Doctor Who), Maya Sansa (Good Morning, Night, Dormant Beauty), Peter Sullivan (Poldark, The Borgias), Debi Mazar (Younger, Entourage), Marco Leonardi (Cinema Paradiso, Anime Nere), Angela Bruce (Silver Haze, Doctor Who) and Lorenzo De Moor (A Simple Favor 2, Dolce Fine Giornata).
Produced by Sky Studios and Fremantle, with production services provided in Italy by Wildside (a Fremantle company), the series is executive produced by Tim Bricknell (The Power, Taboo). Writers Susan E. Connolly and Ian Scott McCullough contribute to the script. Executive producers include Adrian Sturges for Sky Studios; Neil Cross and Terry McDonough; and Jenni Sherwood and Dante Di Loreto for Fremantle.
The Iris Affair will premiere later this year on Sky and the streaming service NOW across the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Fremantle is overseeing international distribution.
