Louis Tomlinson, Lewis Capaldi and more announced for Radio 1 Live Lounge Month 2025
Radio 1 announces this year's Live Lounge Month lineup
BBC Radio 1 has unveiled a star-studded line-up for this year’s Live Lounge Month, with Louis Tomlinson, Olivia Dean, Robbie Williams and Lewis Capaldi leading the bill.
Throughout October, a different act will take to the legendary Live Lounge studio each day, performing intimate versions of their own tracks as well as exclusive cover songs — a tradition that has made the series one of the most beloved fixtures in British music.
The line-up features an eclectic mix of global icons and breakthrough talent. Robbie Williams, one of the UK’s best-selling solo artists, will bring decades of hits to the studio in a special series of Radio 1 Anthems Live Lounge's, while Louis Tomlinson returns to Radio 1 audiences with his solo material after his One Direction years. Olivia Dean, a Mercury Prize nominee praised for her soulful blend of jazz and R&B, will showcase why she’s become one of the UK’s most exciting voices. Lewis Capaldi, whose powerhouse ballads have topped charts worldwide, is set to deliver one of the month’s most emotional sessions.
Other major names include Demi Lovato, bringing their powerful vocals and pop-rock anthems; Mumford & Sons, the Grammy-winning folk-rock band behind hits like I Will Wait; and Florence + The Machine, whose theatrical, sweeping performances are sure to make their Live Lounge return unforgettable. Wet Leg, the Isle of Wight indie duo who exploded onto the scene with Chaise Longue, will also feature, along with The Last Dinner Party, one of the UK’s most talked-about new bands. Fresh voices like PinkPantheress, Myles Smith and Conan Gray will add cutting-edge pop energy, while Machine Gun Kelly and Renee Rapp bring international star power to the schedule.
The announcement was made this morning on BBC Radio 1 by Greg James, alongside Rickie, Melvin and Charlie, with fans invited to catch up on the reveal via BBC Sounds.
Reneé Rapp said: “I love being in the UK and I love when I get to sing songs that aren’t my own, it’s a fun switch up.”
Rickie, Melvin and Charlie said: “Artists stripping things back, surprising us with covers you’d never expect, and creating those unforgettable moments that only the Live Lounge can bring.”
Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones said: “The magic of the Live Lounge is in its intimacy: stripped-back performances that let fans experience their favourite artists like they’ve never heard them before.”
The Legacy of Live Lounge
Since its inception, the Live Lounge has become a cornerstone of BBC Radio 1, offering artists the chance to reimagine their own music and perform unexpected covers in a stripped-back setting. Over the years, it has produced countless iconic moments — from Adele’s heartfelt take on Bob Dylan, to Miley Cyrus covering Arctic Monkeys, and Foo Fighters putting their own spin on pop hits.
Every October, Live Lounge Month expands this tradition into a daily showcase, giving audiences a month-long celebration of musical variety, collaboration and surprise. With this year’s line-up, Radio 1 promises another set of memorable performances that underline why the Live Lounge continues to hold such a special place in music culture.
Looking Back: 2023 Highlights
Last year’s Live Lounge Month featured some unforgettable sessions. Sam Smith delivered a powerful, stripped-back version of their global hit Unholy alongside a surprising cover of Christina Aguilera. RAYE stunned listeners with her soulful take on Escapism, cementing her as one of Britain’s most exciting voices. Coldplay brought their stadium-filling energy into the intimate studio, reworking My Universe in a way that showed off its raw heart. Other standout performances included Little Simz’s razor-sharp lyricism and Olivia Rodrigo’s emotional cover that quickly went viral.
These moments set the bar high for 2024 — and with this year’s line-up, the stage is set for another month of unmissable live music.
