New Crime Drama Lynley Arrives on BritBox in the UK and Canada
Lynley, a gripping new four-part crime drama inspired by Elizabeth George’s acclaimed Inspector Lynley novels has arrived on Britbox. Viewers in the UK and Canada can now stream the series, with a wider rollout planned for later this autumn on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
At the heart of the story is Detective Inspector Tommy Lynley, a gifted investigator whose privileged background sets him apart from his colleagues. Forced into partnership with Sergeant Barbara Havers—a streetwise, outspoken officer from a working-class background—the two form an unlikely alliance. Their differences create constant friction, yet it’s precisely this tension that makes them such an effective team: Lynley brings intellect and precision, while Havers relies on instinct and tenacity. Together, they forge a partnership built on a shared pursuit of justice.
Leading the cast are Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla) as Lynley and Sofia Barclay (Ted Lasso) as Havers. They’re supported by an impressive ensemble that includes Daniel Mays (Magpie Murders), Niamh Walsh (The English Game), Michael Workeye (My Lady Jane), and Joshua Sher (Vera).
Produced by the team behind All Creatures Great and Small, the series benefits from the direct involvement of Elizabeth George herself, who serves as executive producer—ensuring that the spirit of her beloved novels carries through on screen.
With its mix of psychological depth, sharp character dynamics, and compelling mysteries, Lynley promises to be a standout addition to the modern crime drama landscape.
