ITV to Air Downton Abbey Special Ahead of Final Film Release
Downton Abbey fans are in for a treat as ITV3 has confirmed a brand-new one-off special to mark the end of the beloved period drama. Downton Abbey Celebrates The Grand Finale will air at 9pm on Sunday 13 September, with streaming available on ITVX. Across the Atlantic, U.S. viewers can watch the programme on Peacock.
The 60-minute celebration brings the cast back together at London’s iconic Savoy Hotel, reflecting on the show’s remarkable 15-year legacy as it bows out with its third and final film. Stars including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Joanne Froggatt will share personal memories, behind-the-scenes stories, and surprises from their time in the Crawley household.
Joining them are a host of familiar faces: Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Paul Giamatti, Harry Hadden-Paton, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol and Dame Penelope Wilton. The programme will also feature a touching tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, who captivated audiences worldwide as the indomitable Dowager Countess.
“I’m honored to invite you to tea with the entire Downton family,” Dockery teases in a first-look clip. “It will be a night of memories, surprises, and lots of laughter.”
The special arrives just one day after the release of Downton Abbey 3, the concluding chapter of the acclaimed trilogy, which lands in cinemas on Saturday 12 September.
