Gorillaz Announce New Album The Mountain, Single with Sparks, and UK & Ireland Tour
Gorillaz have unveiled details of their next chapter with the announcement of The Mountain, a new studio album set for release in March 2026 through the band’s KONG label. Alongside the record, the virtual group will head out on a major UK and Ireland tour and have dropped the first single, The Happy Dictator, a collaboration with Sparks.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Damon Albarn revealed that the album breaks new ground by incorporating five different languages. True to Gorillaz’ genre-blurring spirit, The Mountain brings together an eclectic mix of collaborators spanning generations, styles, and continents.
Collaborators and Guests
The record features contributions from Black Thought, Omar Souleyman, Asha Puthli, Asha Bhosle, Sparks, Gruff Rhys, Kara Jackson, Yasiin Bey, Paul Simonon, IDLES’ Joe Talbot, Johnny Marr, Ajay Prasanna, Trueno and Anoushka Shankar. Additional musical support comes from the London Arab Orchestra, Demon Strings, and horn players Chris Storr, James Copus and Matthew Gunner.
In keeping with Gorillaz’ tradition of resurrecting voices from the past, the album also includes appearances from Dennis Hopper, Bobby Womack, De La Soul’s Dave Jolicoeur, Tony Allen, Proof, and The Fall’s late frontman Mark E. Smith, collectively credited as Voices from Elsewhere.
