Final preparations underway for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale Premiere
London is preparing for a night of elegance and star power as Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale makes its world premiere in Leicester Square this Wednesday, 3 September.
Crews are already at work transforming the square with a grand staging fit for the beloved period drama, ready to welcome cast members and fans alike. The red-carpet event will be hosted at the Odeon Cinema from 6pm, promising an evening of glitz in true Downton style.
The staging is maroon and gold, with spectacular lighting to ensure the film series goes out in style.
Among those confirmed to attend are Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Joanne Froggatt, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Elizabeth McGovern and Dominic West — many of whom have become household names through the series’ enduring popularity.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale marks the third and final instalment of the much-loved film franchise, which itself followed on from the award-winning television series that became a global sensation. Set in the early 1930s, the story sees the Crawley family and their loyal staff confronting a rapidly changing world and deciding how to lead Downton Abbey into a new era.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see how the story concludes. Following the premiere, the film is set for release in cinemas nationwide on 12 September.
