Destination X set to return after record-breaking launch
The debut episode of BBC’s adventure reality competition series, Destination X, has already been watched by over 6.7 million viewers, including an average of over 1 million under-35s. This makes it the biggest new unscripted launch across the market so far this year and the BBC’s largest new Factual Entertainment launch since current audience data began in 2022.
So far, the series has reached nearly 16 million viewers, highlighting its ability to bring audiences together for must-watch programming on the BBC and cementing its place as one of the year’s most successful Factual Entertainment highlights.
BBC Commissioning Editor Michael Jochnowitz said:
“It’s fantastic to see Destination X become the talk of the summer and now boasting the biggest launch across the entire unscripted market this year. We couldn’t be happier for Rob Brydon, our brilliant cast, and the whole production team at Twofour.”
Destination X is the second commission from the BBC and NBCUniversal partnership, following the global phenomenon of The Traitors. Together, the two series rank among the biggest unscripted launches across the market in the last three years.
Produced by Twofour and hosted by Rob Brydon, the series has captured the nation’s attention since its 30th July launch. Viewers have followed 13 contestants on a mind-bending journey aboard the blacked-out Destination X bus, with players unsure of their location or final destination.
Fans at home have been able to join in the adventure through the Destination X online game, earning clues and making predictions by placing their X on the map alongside the cast. So far, 366,000 users have registered, making it the most successful game of its kind. Across the series, players have placed 1 million X’s on the map and answered 2.6 million trivia questions along the way.
Expect a second series of Destination X to air in 2026.
