Daisy May and Charlie Cooper reunite for paranormal series NightWatch
BAFTA-winning siblings Daisy May and Charlie Cooper are reuniting for a brand-new series, NightWatch, commissioned for BBC Two and iPlayer.
The 6x30’ series will bring together the creators of This Country for another offbeat adventure, this time through their shared fascination with the paranormal. Each episode will see the pair locked in overnight at some of Britain’s most haunted locations, attempting to make it from dusk until dawn—hopefully without any unexpected company.
From centuries-old castles to abandoned Victorian prisons, Daisy and Charlie will begin each investigation with a guided tour from the building’s custodian, who will recount chilling tales and reported encounters. Once the doors close, the siblings will be left to their own devices as the clock ticks down to sunrise.
The series will open at HM Prison Gloucester, not far from the Coopers’ hometown. The vast former jail, closed to inmates for years, will once again welcome visitors—this time with Daisy and Charlie confined to a small cell for the night. From there, the duo will travel across the UK to locations including a castle in Northumberland, a highwaymen’s pub in Cannock Chase, ruins in Herefordshire, a cinema in York and a remote bothy in the Scottish Highlands.
Along the way, the Coopers will reflect on their family life, sibling rivalry and career successes while tackling ghostly legends armed with Daisy’s “spooky briefcase” of gadgets.
Catherine Catton, BBC Head of Factual Entertainment and Events, said: “We are really looking forward to spending the night with Daisy May and Charlie Cooper in some of the UK’s spookiest places.”
Lisa Clark, Executive Producer, added: “Working with Daisy May and Charlie in some of the spookiest buildings in the UK was terrifying – but also a lot of fun.”
The siblings themselves said: “We’ve both had a brush with the paranormal, and really do love the concept of life after death, so we thought this could be the perfect way to prove to the world that we’re not delusional. It will be a miracle if we both come out alive and well.”
NightWatch promises a mix of eerie encounters, comedy, and candid moments between two of Britain’s most celebrated comedy voices.
