Canadian sitcom Small Achievable Goals is coming to ITVX
Canadian sitcom Small Achievable Goals, created by and starring Jennifer Whelan and Meredith MacNeill will stream exclusively on ITVX from 1st November.
Small Achievable Goals follows the adventures of Julie (Jennifer Whalen) and Kris (Meredith MacNeill), an odd couple trying to navigate different stages of menopause. When they’re thrust together to produce a podcast, Kris and Julie embark on an unpredictable journey of transformation as they help each other through workplace challenges and office politics, dating disasters and relationship drama, health concerns and parenting woes – and realise the only way through this difficult time of life is together.
Here's more about the chracters:
Julie Muldoon (Jennifer Whalen)
Julie could be a poster child for Gen X. She’s sarcastic, change-adverse and driven. But all that drive and passion comes to a dead stop when menopause hits her. Haunted by hot flashes, sleepless nights, painful sex and a lagging libido, Julie finds she can no longer keep her personal or professional shit together. And the RAGE. Her voice of reason has suddenly morphed into a scary yell. But her biggest fear is what she’ll discover on the other side of menopause, namely that she’ll become a ‘Space Priestess’ - a long grey-haired retiree in confusing jewelry and billowy caftans. She often leans on her keen intellect to solve her midlife dilemmas but it’s only when she admits her vulnerabilities and insecurities that she honours her true self. With help from her friendship with Kris, she discovers strength in honesty, compassion for herself and a way to harness her rage into a battle cry.
Kris Fine (Meredith MacNeill)
Kris is outgoing, impulsive, compassionate and a friend to everyone. She’s never met a person she wouldn’t hug! After years working as a make-up counter salesperson for minimum wage, Kris has reinvented herself as an influencer turned podcaster, all while juggling the hectic life of a single mom. She is levelling up and nothing can stop her. Period. Actually, her period is exactly what stops her. Or rather, a period that won’t stop. Unable to recognize her flash bleeds as a symptom of perimenopause, Kris suffers the pain and internalized shame only a woman constantly gaslit by the medical system can. Each of her visits to the doctor offers few answers, erodes her confidence and delivers a ton of side eye. As her friendship with Julie grows, she rediscovers her inner strength and learns to advocate for herself and her health against a dehumanizing medical system. And sometimes she wears a witch’s hat while she is doing it.
Stream the show on ITVX from 1 November.
