ITV has confirmed that the next series of Big Brother will kick off on Sunday 28th September at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. The launch will be accompanied by Big Brother: Live Launch, fronted once again by AJ Odudu and Will Best, who will introduce a brand-new cast of Housemates to the nation.
The upcoming run marks the third instalment of ITV’s reboot, following the franchise’s successful revival in 2023. Since returning, Big Brother has become one of ITVX’s most streamed titles, with the brand surpassing 100 million streams on the platform.
A Seven-Week Reality Spectacle
This year’s series promises seven weeks of drama, strategy and spectacle. Fans can expect a redesigned Big Brother House, elaborate tasks, secret twists, dramatic nominations and, of course, the live evictions that have defined the show since its earliest days.
The nightly spin-off, Big Brother: Late & Live, will also return, offering celebrity panel debates, exclusive interviews and unseen clips. Meanwhile, the legendary Big Brother: Live Stream is back on ITVX, giving die-hard fans the chance to watch the action unfold in real time deep into the night.
Big Brother’s UK Legacy
First arriving on Channel 4 in 2000, Big Brother quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Billed as a “social experiment,” the format was simple yet groundbreaking: a group of strangers living together in a house under constant surveillance, competing in challenges and facing public votes until one winner remained.
The show turned ordinary people into household names, with contestants like Nikki Grahame, Brian Dowling, and Alison Hammond becoming TV fixtures long after their time in the house. Memorable moments – from surprise evictions to heated arguments – ensured that Big Brother dominated headlines and water-cooler conversations for years.
After 11 main series on Channel 4, the show moved to Channel 5 in 2011, where it ran until 2018. While ratings dipped in its later years, Big Brother retained a loyal following, and its influence on reality TV – from Love Island to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! – has been undeniable.
The format’s 2023 comeback on ITV2 signalled a new era, blending nostalgia with a refreshed, modern production style. The combination of live-streaming on ITVX and social media engagement has brought the format to a new generation of fans while keeping its original DNA intact.
A New Chapter Begins
With its September launch now confirmed, excitement is building for another unpredictable season. As always, the true stars of Big Brother will be the Housemates themselves – an eclectic group of personalities from across the UK whose relationships, rivalries and resilience will be tested under the nation’s gaze.
After nearly 25 years on British screens, Big Brother continues to prove that its winning formula of drama, conflict, and human connection remains as irresistible as ever.
