Viewers label ITV gameshow "worst thing on TV".
New ITV gameshow '99 to Beat' has been slated by viewers and has been streamed less than 1000 times on YouTube.
Viewers have labelled ITV's new gameshow '99 to Beat' the "worst thing on TV" after it made its debut on Saturday night.
In the show, fronted by brothers Adam and Ryan Thomas, one hundred contestants compete in a series of challenges each week and all they have to do is not come last in order to stay in the competition.
At the end of the eight weeks, one remaining player will win £25,000.
Whilst the format sounds fresh and it's nice to see ITV using some new talent, viewers hated the show.
Taking to social media in their droves, they criticised the presenters, the “annoying” contestants and the challenges.
Comments included:
"Quite possibly the worst program ever broadcast on Tv 🤦♂️ #99ToBeat"
"Managed about 3 mins of #99ToBeat. Those two “actor” brothers are so annoying!!!"
"Quite possibly the worst TV programme I have ever seen #99ToBeat"
"Scrap the soundtrack, self narration, contestant backstory (we don't care). Give us a crowd, commentator as opposed to picture in picture of the Thomas bros. If they did this, it would be so much better. What a pile of tosh #99ToBeat"
"Who actually signed off on this being shown on tv?! #99ToBeat"
In fact, it's hard to come by ANY positive comment at all.
In a move which further annoyed viewers, ITV1 then broadcast the exact same episode again at the same time on Sunday.
And things get worse, because although around 2million were have expected to try out the first episode watching ITV1, just 825 people streamed the full episode which ITV made available on YouTube.
99 To Beat had the hard task of going up against BBC One's 'Gladiators' on Saturday and Countryfile yesterday. Bosses will be hoping it can maintain an audience or it will risk losing its primetime slot.
Stream the episode for yourself on ITVX or Youtube.
